Contact

Email iniaki@boudiaf.co.uk. We usually reply within a few days. For a bug, tell us which climb you were on and what you expected to happen. A screenshot helps.

You can also send notes from inside the game: on Home, tap Tell us what you think.

Playing

How do I play?

Pick a climb. For each move, tap a hand or foot, then the hold it goes to, and add a technique if the move needs one. Press Climb to watch the climber try your whole sequence. If they fall, the game tells you why, so you can change the beta and try again.

Why did my climber fall?

After a fall, the reason appears on screen: a hold out of reach, hips too far from the wall, a foot that could not take the weight, or a move that needed more strength. The move that failed is highlighted in your plan, and you can retry from the last safe move.

When is a climb topped?

When both hands are on the finish hold, just like on a real bouldering wall.

What are hints and Carabiners?

If you are stuck, a hint can reveal the next hold, the limb, the technique, or the whole beta, one step at a time. Hints cost Carabiners. You start with some and earn more by topping climbs. Carabiner packs are an optional in-app purchase; no mode is locked behind a purchase.

How do daily reminders work?

The game can remind you when new daily climbs are up, at most once a day. After your first topped daily it asks whether you want reminders, and you can change this any time in Settings. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone; no server is involved.

Your data

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts. You can play everything without signing in.

Where is my progress saved?

On your iPhone. Your level, climbs topped, settings, streak and Carabiners are stored by the app on your device. Deleting the app removes them, except your Carabiner balance: that is also kept in the iPhone's Keychain so bought Carabiners are not lost if you reinstall, and it comes back if you reinstall on the same iPhone. Settings > Reset progress starts your level, points, skills, goals, gym progress, climbs topped, trophies and lessons again; your day streak, Carabiners, bought hints and settings stay.

What data do you collect?

Project Ascent sends anonymous usage data (for example which climbs are played, whether they were topped, and why a climber fell) to PostHog, our analytics provider in the EU, so we can see where the game is too hard or confusing. It uses a random ID made on your device, not your name, email, Apple ID or advertising ID. No ads, and no tracking across other apps or websites. It is on by default, and you can turn it off any time in Settings > Share anonymous usage data. If you use the feedback form, the text you write is sent to the same place when you tap Send. If you are signed in to Game Center, your scores and achievements go to Apple's Game Center. Read the full privacy policy.

Can I stop usage data being sent?

Yes: Settings > Share anonymous usage data. Turning it off stops sending at once and deletes anything waiting to be sent. The feedback form also stops working while it is off, because it uses the same route; the form tells you to turn the setting back on.

Purchases & refunds

How do I get a refund?

All purchases go through Apple, so Apple handles refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the purchase and choose Request a refund. We never see your payment details. If Apple refunds a Carabiner pack, the game takes those Carabiners back, which can leave your balance below zero until you earn more.

A purchase didn't arrive

Carabiner packs are delivered as soon as Apple confirms them. If the game was closed or you were offline at that moment, open the game again with a connection: it checks for unfinished purchases every time it starts. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. If it is still missing, email us with the date and the order ID from your Apple receipt.

Is there a Restore Purchases button?

Not yet. Carabiner packs are consumable (like any in-game currency), so Apple does not require one, and a Carabiner balance is not carried over to a different iPhone.
